RM of Flett's Springs’s story
The Rural Municipality of Flett's Springs No. 429 began as the RM of Carrot River No. 429, incorporated on December 13, 1909. It kept that name for nearly three decades, until it was renamed the RM of Flett's Springs No. 429 on February 28, 1938.
Today the RM surrounds the city of Melfort and the village of Beatty, and the unincorporated communities of Ethelton and Pathlow also lie within its boundaries. The RM office is in Melfort, and a council and an appointed administrator run municipal business, meeting on the second Wednesday of each month.
Rail branch lines of the C.P.R. and C.N.R. cross the area, serving Melfort and many nearby points, and highways 3, 6, 41, 368 and 776 run through it.
